About Veronica Tjerned

Veronica Tjerned is the foremost and only professional kathak dancer in Sweden, who has studied various forms of classical Indian dance forms from early childhood. However, in 1999 she decided to focus only on kathak, as she truly believes you can only master one style in one lifetime.

Apart from her formal training in kathak, she has obtained a degree from DOCH in dance pedagogy with focus on holistic training and teaching children. In 2018, she received her masters at STDH in dramaturgy and directing movement based stage craft. She is the artistic director for Indisk Dansakademi, formerly known as Den Asiatiska Dansakademin.  She has formed the dancetroup Kathakkompaniet comprised of her senior students. 

Using Indisk Dansakademi as a platform, it is her aim to develop and promote Indian classical dance and music in Sweden.
